My Current Status…(II)

So, howdy mates. Currently in the morning I’m fasting (obviously! It’s Ramadhan!), and it had been around for about 23 days I guess. Rather than just laying around and whispering enchanted words like “water” or “thirsty”, I just continue my life normally like any other day. But, to chase the burning spirit of Eid, all my exam will end a week before the Eid. It means…yup. Exactly yesterday is my last exam. But I can’t just be happy yet. Still have my project paper to finish before the middle of the next month. Nevertheless, as usual, will try my best to finish all that project paper on time (oh GOD, please help me)..

Oh…I had something funny to tell you today (be aware that it’s depends on personal interpretation; if you feel it’s not funny, I can’t help you there). Okay, here it goes. This morning, I went to my lecturer room with my fellowship to attend some presentation session. When we arrive there, my lecturer told me that we had to wait a little bit because he had an errands to do. So, we wait at the meeting room. Suddenly I remember that all the presentation slides is in my pen-drive and yaaay the pen-drive is not in my pocket. So, one of my mates quickly giving his motorcycle key to me and I, without hesitate, make the ride to my house to get my pen-drive. I pull the throttle to the max and I’m kinda feel like Farid Kamil in Remp-It.

Fedora Core 2 & Me

Ok, the local date and time now is July 2, 2006 at 3:55am and right now I’m still working. Yup…I’m taking some part time jobs and supposedly I’m either at home on my bed sleeping like a kitten or watching world cup match between Brazil and France. So why the hell I’m still here doing my job? It’s basically because having some weird problem on Fedora Core 2 (FC2) and need to revamp almost everything. Can’t tell you much about my work here but I’m dealing with some network monitoring using RRD-Tools on Linux machine. It’s not my decision to use FC2, so I’m a little in an awkward position when I’m trying to revamp everything. I hope this will end soon…huhuhuhu

The all new Yahoo pages

I don't know when they change it, but this morning when I wanted to check my Yahoo mails, I were quite surprise by the changes that been made by Yahoo. The new interfaces is somehow quite familiar for me in someway…yup, makes me remember of some site that using the same concept before this. Hence, if you're familiar with site that based on Mambo, Joomla!, or even Wordpress, you'll understand what I meant. Below is the screenshot of the new pages. The first one indicates the overall page and the second one indicates when you mouseover your personal Yahoo section such as mails, messenger, etc.

The overall page Navigating your personal section

Ok, my end conclusion. It's no doubt that the interfaces had been given some steroid, but how about the functionality? I for example, always put functionality on top rather than *eye candies* when I'm using such services (email, e-banking, etc). At one point, yes…it can make me come back for more but if the services have unstable functionality, hell I will drove back just to enjoy *the moment*. I personally want to see Yahoo improve their new interfaces on the email itself. It had been a long time since I'm using their Beta phase email services, yet I see there're not much improvement. Nevertheless, the efforts deserved a praise indeed & well done for the changes. But again, for long term of usage, Google services is still the best. Maybe some of you will argue by saying that it's no big deal because we use all the mentioned services FOC, but this is just my 2 cents. Without thoughts like this, what's the point on the so called *customers demand & rights*? Again, well done Yahoo and keep on the good work…

By the way, don't flame me if the news is already a history by now…most of the time I'm lagging behind on matters like this.. :-P peace

My Current Status…

Howdy mates….just another crappy post. Currently, I’m not so busy with anything serious, just trying to look like I’m so busy at the moment by doing a lot of reading basically on Linux theoretical parts, revising my php knowledge, and a little about general computing (programming, hardware, etc). Also lately I’m involved again in gaming scene after so long of absence by playing Onimusha 3: Demon Seige pc version. Yeah..not so new but I’m pretty convince that the game can be a remark of my little comeback to the scene :-P.

Oh…before I forgot, just recently I had updated my FC5 kernel from 2.6.16-1.2080_FC5 to 2.6.16-1.2111_FC5. Well the update going so well for a moment, but then I realize that my windows partition that I mount before this, can’t be detected. Oh GOD…what have I done? But before I had the chance to become more panic, I realize that when I’m doing up the configuration, one of the step is to recognize the kernel version. So, I went to Linux-NTFS.org and dowload the new rpm correspondent to my new kernel version, remove the old ntfs rpm from my system (by typing yum remove kernel-module-ntfs command at the terminal as root), and installing the new rpm (by typing rpm -Uvh *.rpm command at the terminal as root). Pheww…moral of the post, don’t panic :-P
